105 Children Liberated!
The FBI conducted a nationwide swoop within the
sex trafficking industry and liberated 105 teen age girls who range in age from
13 to 17 from being enslaved by pimps. 150 arrests were made during the operation.
Operation Cross Country is part of the FBI’s
Innocence Lost National Initiative. This program focuses on identifying
children who have been lured or forced into prostitution.
This nationwide bust was revealed to the public on
July 30th and took place in 76 American cities and involved 230
different law enforcement agencies according to Ron Hosko an assistant director
for the FBI’s Criminal Investigative Division.
Operation Cross Country also netted cash, drugs
and firearms during the bust. The Bay Area and Detroit had the most arrests
during this operation. Ironically New York City had no arrests which was surprising since it is a city that hosts all types of major events that attract pimps and johns.
This bust included women as well as men who were responsible for trafficking girls.
Enslavement of young girls continues to be a
problem within the United States. Young girls and boys fall victims to adults
who want to use them to make money.
